Earth Science Olympiad Competition 2018
The ninth Sri Lankan Earth Science Olympiad Competition (SLESOC) will be jointly organized by the Geological Society of Sri Lanka (GSSL) in collaboration with the Department of Geology, University of Peradeniya. Sri Lankan school students under 19 years by 1 st July 2018 and those who have passed the G.C.E. (O/L) examination or sat for the G.C.E. (O/L) in 2017 are eligible to apply for the above competition. The competition will be organized during March, 2018. The best four students will be selected to participate at the 12 th International Earth Science Olympiad Competition in Thailand, during August 2018 (subject to availability of funds).

Sri Lankan Team performed very well at the Earth Science Olympiad Competition, held in France -August, 2017.
Sri Lanka team won two Gold Medals and one Silver Medal on international team field investigation and earth science project and for the competitive individual competition won a Bronze medal at the Earth Science Olympiad Competition, Nice, France, August 2017.

Sri Lankan school students under 19 years by 1st July, 2016 (born after 1st July, 1997) and those who have passed the G.C.E. (O/L) examination or who sat for the G.C.E. (O/L) in 2015 are eligible to apply for the above competition. The competition test will be organized during April, 2016. Best four students will be selected to be participated at the 10th International Earth Science Olympiad competition will be held in Mie, Japan, during August 2016 (subject to availability of funds).

Winners of the Earth Science Olympiad Competition 2015
Geological Society of Sri Lanka is the authorized professional organization for the selection of competitors from among National Schools for the International Earth Science Olympiad Competition. The selection was solely made by the results of the written test, which was prepared by University Lecturers. School children who sat for written test were nominated by the Principals of the respective schools. Based on the results of the written test the following four (04) students were selected to represent Sri Lanka for International Earth Science Olympiad Competition 2015, which will be held in Brazil from 13th -20th September 2015.
